Personality

Norah’s generally a good-natured girl with an easy smile. She’s quick to laugh when she thinks something funny, and slow to whine when something isn’t going her way. But like any teenager, she’s got her helping of angst and secret crushes. Easygoing in most situations, though known to go shy every once in a while when she’s unsure of herself, Norah will stand back and watch what’s going on to get her bearings. Perhaps it’s from having attempted conversations with her father shut down so often that she’s hard pressed to talk openly about herself and what’s going on in her mind.

Watching her mother work, Norah’s picked up on a few diplomatic PR tricks to help keep those around her at ease and open. Whether she uses these tricks or not depends on the situation. She is a teen, and she had moods like a teen though she keeps the pissy parts under control more than not, but everyone has their days and Norah is no exception.

Norah loves life, and the living of it. Every day brings something new. A new lesson, a different inspiration for painting or dancing. The flow of life itself if a joy. That roller coaster, that at the end of it looks and seems so short no matter it’s actual length.

Personal History

She lives with her mother, father, and older brother. Norah’s relationship with her father is strained. She knows that he loves her and has a hard time showing it, but that doesn’t make the fact that they don’t talk any easier. Any attempt to discuss things with him ends in a monetary transaction much to Norah's disappointment. Norah would love to have a relationship with her father but as it stands currently that doesn't seem possible.

With her mother, Norah’s relationship is better. While she can talk to her mother it’s difficult at times with the busy schedule Jennifer keeps. Still they do find time to spend together occasionally, but that time doesn't make up for the all but being ignored by her father.

A decent student, Norah has been known to make the occasional C to accompany her usual A, B average particularly when it comes to math her least favorite subject.

All in all Norah's a fairly average kid. Sure she's lived a comfortable life, but like everyone else she has her issues that are on auto-subscribe. Mostly those issues are family related, but she has issues with herself as well. Little things like appearance, her self-worth, and the like. Usually those hit fleetingly, but Norah has been known to have her days in the gloomies.

When she was younger, Norah found a love and a way to express herself through art. Starting with crayons and paper, an occasional wall. Over the years Norah developed her talent and find new mediums and genres to create with and in. Painting became a favorite pass-time with acrylics being the main focus. Norah signed up for every art class she could through school, and put her pieces in different shows. Norah didn't always place in the shows, but she had fun and enjoyed looking at the other artists work as much as she enjoyed creating her own works.

Relationship With Other Characters

Abigail Dempsey - Dancing with Abigail and singing Disney tunes, or any tune from any cartoon movie really is something Norah wouldn't trade for the world. The little girl is so full of life and joy that Norah often wonders if she would glow in the dark if Nature did such things for people with such a light. Norah's more than happy to watch Abigail and her brother Tobias for Cadissy any time.

Adela Martinez - Is the owner of Fresh Mex where Norah is in the process of painting a mural. One of several reasons Norah likes Adela is because she does allow Norah to paint, and encourages her in the process. Their conversations are easy, and often punctuated by a splash of color or a new inspiration for the mural.

Ashley Hodge - There's no love lost between the two Ashley and Norah. As much as Norah dislikes confrontation when Alanna was spreading rumors about Maddy, Norah didn't do or say anything. Then there's the deal with her brother. As far as Norah's concerned Ashley's using her brother as a "fall back boy" and she doesn't appreciate the use.

Brady- Norah adores Brady's cookies and treats. She watches the Little Man whenever she's asked to and feels a fierce protectiveness over Manny.

Cadissy Dresden - It all started with a woman looking for a babysitter and Norah was happy to step up. She adores the Tobias and Abigail. That their mother spends so much time with them, so much fun time at that causes pinpricks of jealousy, but she's delighted for the kids, and is equally delighted to have been welcomed into that picture.

Cian Doherty - It's a new relationship between care-giver and child, but one that Norah is confident will bloom into a friendship. She loves that he draws as often as he does and encourages him at every opportunity. In a way, it's Norah giving to Cian what Jenka had given to her.

Dana Jenkins - Dana's always had a special place in Norah's life. Certainly good friends, some would call them best and Norah wouldn't argue. When Dana was going through her rough patch, Norah wanted nothing more than to help her, but the older girl pushed her away and locked everyone out. Norah didn't give up, and her patience won through. The two are hanging out again, and Norah couldn't be happier that her friend's going to have a baby!

Fionn Gallagher - From the moment the two met at Fresh Mex and got to chatting, Norah adored Fionn. That he loves Bowie as much as she does, can quote Princess Bride with her, and sing along to the Labyrinth only sealed their friendship. Fionn is right up there with her brother, and not just because he lets her borrow Sal from time to time, or gives her piggy back rides. He is her best guy-friend. Period. No questions, no negotiations.

Jenka Walton-D'Aubigne - Jenka used to take care of Norah while her parents were out. While in her care, Norah discovered the joys of paint and color. Being allowed to paint on walls, chairs, whatever was available, Norah's deep love for painting had begun. When Jenka moved Norah continued to paint, and as she grew older she started focusing more and more on painting and exploring the different genres of the art world.

Lee C-Haye IV - A dinner set up by her father turned into an evening filled with surprises. Norah was quite taken with Lee, and found him to be a charming, wonderful gentleman... and he knows his art! There's definitely something between Norah and Lee, she just has to figure out what it is, but if he kissed her, she's sure she wouldn't mind.

Leon Doherty - On a coworkers recommendation Norah was hired to watch Cian a few days a week while Leon was at work. Norah finds him intriguing and has made it a mission to get him to smile genuinely.

Manuel Hernandez - One of Norah's favorite Little Men, and certainly a man in her life. Watching Manuel is something she will never complain about. There's a fierce protectiveness of him when it comes to the harpy that birthed him. There is very little she wouldn't do for Manuel or Brady.

Tobias Dempsey - Watching Tobias and his sister when she can and is asked is no chore for Norah. The kid's intelligence and desire to learn is a never ending delight for the young woman.

Gone but Not Forgotten

Alanna Campbell - Alanna was Norah's best friend around her own age. The two shared nearly everything with eachother. It doesn't bother Norah that her best friend was dating her brother, but it bothers her that Alanna left. Moved away to finish college. While Norah's all for higher education, she's not so hot on her brother's heart being broken.

Asher Cohen - It had been chance that took Norah to the Temple Beth-Am one day after school in the sixth grade. She'd been bored and wanted something to do. Having over heard some of the other kids talking about Rabbi Cohen and how he had after school programs. Six years later, Norah viewed the older man as a dear friend and confidant. He'd been there to answer questions and offer advice. Norah had become much like the Rabbi's right hand woman until he moved without much of a warning.

Brennan Buchanan - Having welcomed Brennan to Pleasant Port with a watercolor of Stanton Hills, Norah offered to help him with anything he needed moving in wise. While she doesn't know from experience how frustrating a move could be, she can guess. He moved, however, before any real friendship could bloom. Norah thinks about him still from time to time, wondering what ever became of the quite man who shared an afternoon on the swing with her.

Gavin was Norah's teacher in high school last year. She has a terrible crush on him, and ignores that her mom is having the same exact crush. Norah never told Gavin about her feelings, but she feels that she's deeply in love with him, even if he's married and she knows it. That he moved devastated her. No warning, nothing, just one day he was there and the next he wasn't.

Vee - A rainy evening and a first attempt at a home-baked pie lead Norah to the British woman's door with a gift of welcome and a smile. Vincenza's choice in art and her travel experiences have enchanted Norah. The woman left as quietly as she'd arrived, leaving Norah a set of antique paintbrushes. The brushes are set upon a shelf in Norah's painting nook, and she finds herself staring at them. The only reminder that Vincenza Howard wasn't a figment of her imagination.

Zach Hall - Having seen Zach around town and school, but only having said a few words to him here or there though enough to know his name, Norah was delighted to have seen him at the grocery one rainy day when she was hunting for pie baking supplies. A conversation and mis-paid groceries on Zach's part lead to an invitation for bowling. Not long after, however, the Halls moved, leaving Norah dizzy with the abruptness of it all.

Speak Out
{What Pleasant Port Citizens have to say about Norah}

Gabriel Parker: "Norah is too sweet for this world. At some point she's going to realize that real life doesn't have anything to do with Disneyworld."

Justin Parker: "For the most part, Norah's a great sister. In fact, I can honestly say that she's my favorite sister. She brings a sense of normalcy to the family which can be calming sometimes."

Alanna Campbell: "Norah has that special light around her that makes her shine even in the darkest room. It's not only her huge smile, it's also her big heart. I love her, and I feel we'll be friends forever, no matter where the future leads us".

Geraldine Sullivan: "Norah is a smart kid. Very smart. I'm not a huge fan of the 'sins of the father' way of thinking so I really could not care less who her father is or is not. She's Norah not Gabriel."

Dana Jenkins: "She's a really sweet person, sometimes she can be a little too sweet. I consider her one of my best friends, even if we haven't been as close lately."

Asher Cohen: "Norah, Norah, Norah. She's the daughter I never had the chance to have with my wife. She is living proof that good can come from well...not so good. I guess I would call her a 'light in the darkness.' It's been amazing to see her grow up into such a wonderful young lady. She reminds me of my Annabell."

Fionnegan Gallagher: "She's a crackerjack. She gives Sal love when I'm away, and gives me love when I'm there! How much better can a friendship get? Besides, it's so stimulating to be her hat. Yeah, if you don't get it, you just don't."

Cadissy Dresden: "She's a great girl who I'm sure will grow into a wonderful woman. She's fantastic with Trick and Abby, and they love her. I couldn't give her a better recommendation than that."

Fletcher Montgomery: "Sweet girl and a lot of fun to chat with. She seems pure, but there's something about her that makes her seem like she knows more than she lets on."
