Personality

Tobias is a quiet kid, studious and cautious. He takes his responsibilities as man of the house very seriously and sees himself as the protector for his mother and his sister while his brother is away. He loves to learn, loves to break things apart and see how they work and why they are the way they are. He can sometimes be a little reticent around strangers, but takes his cues from his mother so usually gets over that fairly quickly.

History

Tobias was born in Austin, Texas, a year after his parents were married. From his earliest memories, he recalls his mother and brother always hugging and coddling him. He can barely remember even seeing his father at all those first years. As he grew older, he began to idolize his brother, following him everywhere and trying to everything. So when he found out that his father had been hurting his brother, he immediately rallied against the man. He moved to Pleasant Port with his mother and never once questioned her decision to get away. When his sister came along, he and Malachai made a secret pact to always look after their mother and sister, and keep them safe.

In Pleasant Port, Tobias was slow to make friends, but the ones he made are the best he's ever had. He works hard in school not for the grades, but because his mother grins at him when he tells her what he's learned.

On July 4th, 2006, in honor of his mother's birthday, Tobias built a firework and set it off in their yard. It didn't shoot off, it exploded in place, and they had to call the fire department to put out the following small blaze.

	Father	Claude Dempsey	(Silence.)	43	Tobias hates his father. He only speaks to the man when he absolutely has to and only goes on the visits because someone has to look after his sister.
	Grandfather	Sam Curtis Dresden		72	Tobias thinks his grandpa is awesome. He's seen pictures of Sam riding in the rodeos and been to his really neat trailer where his mom grew up.

Michel Decker: Michel teaches Tobias' history class, and Toby thinks he's pretty cool. Now Michel is friends with his mom and comes over for dinner sometimes, which is pretty awesome, even though Toby had to keep telling his friends that no, his mother isn't dating the history teacher.

Fionnegan Gallagher: Toby met Fionn at the dog park when he went to walk Doozy with his mom and sister. Fionn was really funny and showed him how to go really fast rolling down the hill, so he has Tobias' stamp of approval.

Norah Parker: Norah comes to babysit him and Abby sometimes, and even though he's way too old to need a babysitter, he likes hanging out with her because she lets him eat popcorn no matter what time it is and doesn't make fun of his drawings.
