Zach takes after his mom - he likes to be comfortable. He's usually always in slightly baggy or loose comfy jeans and layered shirts, usually just a plain white t-shirt with a casual patterned button down over it. He has a permanent bed-head look, his sandy hair is always tousled...which is probably because he's always running a bit behind. He's tall for his age and is trying to overcome the lanky look.

Zach Hall was born in September in Rwanda while his mom and dad, both doctors, were there doing humanitarian work. They moved to East Timor when he was still an infant and, when he was a toddler, finally returned to the United States and settled in New Mexico, where they stayed and he grew up for the majority of his years. He was still quite young when his little sister Hannah was born and then died, and only remembers small details every now and again.

A year before they moved to Pleasant Port, the Halls were camping in the Unitah's in Southern Utah when lightning sparked a wildfire in the area. In the course of trying to get away, Zach's mother Lily pushed him away from a tree that had fallen in the river they were crossing, saving his life but getting caught by and then trapped underneath it herself. Roles were immediately reversed and Zach, then only 14 years old, had to help his dad revive her. The experience matured Zach beyond his years and his relationship to his parents is extremely close.

In the fall of 2004, his mom was offered a position at the hospital in Pleasant Port, and they decided to move. Zach was against it at first, not wanting to move further away from his grandparents and having lived most of his life in New Mexico, but has since come to feel as much at home in Pleasant Port as he did anywhere else. He's made some lasting friendships and enjoyed his senior year of high school. He ended up graduating early so he could begin college classes.

In 2006 he briefly moved away when his mom got a position in Maryland...but when his dad went overseas with "Doctor's Without Borders" the two of them moved back to Pleasant Port. He's excited to start courses at the college.

Zach's pretty laid back, it takes a lot to rile him up. He's very intelligent, so people who make snap or stereotypical judgments or overall uninformed comments annoy him. He takes after his dad in that he can appear on the shy side until you get past the fact that it's just because he's inquisitive. He gets along with others his age very well, has no trouble making friends, and is well-liked by adults in the community. He has a great relationship with both parents, and is particularly close to his mom. For as overprotective as he gripes that she is of him, due to the family's experience while camping out of state he is equally as protective, if not more so, of her. Unlike most teenagers, he is not afraid to let others see how he feels about either parent and is never embarrassed when people, even his friends, happen to.

Devon Hennessey - Devon has been a part of Zach's life for as long as he can remember. He often takes care of her dog Lucan when she runs late or is out of town. He looks up to her as a mentor figure and friend, and finds it nice once in a while to be able to talk to an adult that's not this mother - someone whose advice is probably a little more objective.

Colin Lowen - The two met just after Zach moved into town, as they were in the same year of high school. They hit if off fairly quick; Zach loves that he can be himself around Colin without Colin thinking he's a "goodie", and on the same side, really digs the fact that Colin never tries to push any of his own personality quirks on him. Zach's pretty sure the friendship works because of their differences and wouldn't have it any other way.

Nathan Covington - He's only known Nathan for a couple of days yet, having just gone in to a possible job prospect at 3D Architects. He's excited to learn under him.

Norah Parker - Zach's known Norah, or at least seen her around town, for a couple years, but didn't *really* get to know her until just recently when the two ran into each other while grocery shopping. They had a great conversation then, and again when he called about bowling, and he can't wait to get to know her even better...soon.

Travis Collins - He knew *of* Travis really only through word of mouth through his mom after he helped change a flat tire. But he got to know him better after he stayed with him a few nights after the flood. He thinks Travis is pretty cool and is just a nice guy that really likes to help others out.

Fletcher Montgomery - Zach didn't know Fletcher at all till they met while staying with Travis after Salem flooded. He thinks Fletcher's a hoot. And he kind of respects the fact that he can speak his mind about stuff without seeming pushy about topics like beer and sex.
